Tiny Warheads

tiny warheads, baby you and me
tiny warheads, living in dc
who you fooling? you're an awful actress
you're much better lying on my mattress
come work for me
it goes...
single white male seeks a sharp young intern
starts committee hearings with a text to return
return to me
and if you'd let me lead we'd be alright
you're feeling confrontational, i'm merely conversational
and if you'd take this peace we'd be alright
our time is recreational, your body so sensational
tiny warheads, baby you and me
tiny warheads, living in dc
balance all the budgets count the votes in sequence
pay all the lobbyists don't count on advances
don't ask me
here we are staring at the helm of disdain
a symphony so simply gets drunk on powerade
champagne for me
and if you'd let me lead we'd be alright
you're feeling confrontational, i'm merely conversational
and if you'd take this peace we'd be alright
our time is recreational, your body so sensational
tiny warheads, baby you and me
tiny warheads, living in dc
both sides are in control we're all shouting "no no no"
who couldn't guarantee this silence by decree?
c'mon now sing with me
tiny warheads, baby you and me
tiny warheads, living in dc

Bayonets

Ever Sat on the edge of a cliff? Jump off into the abyss? Just fall no telling where you'll land? New city, a whole new f*cking world. Don't know nobody but the damn girl you follow, the knife in her hand. No clue how you'll get by but a guitar and a cigarette can keep you warm. So sit on the edge of a cliff. Get pushed a little closer to it. Look down she knows you like it. Fine line between brave and stupid, but that's what you get. Don't look back. Damn you and your bayonets. Stand up. Look back at 'em all, waiting, looking for a fall. Guns raised, brandishing their smiles. "Go on," the crowd says with their eyes, as they ignore your desperate cries. You've lost, but you've known for a while. 'Cause this is going just how you planned it: an army of loved ones to see you off the ledge. But it looked a whole lot more like flight three months prior to tonight. Time's come so step to bat, son. Fine line between brave and stupid, that's what you get. Don't look back. Damn you and your bayonets! Platitudes, yeah I suck at that sh*t. Your gratitude? I ain't seen it quite yet. My parachute's in rips and tears from wolves and bears that follow me as I fall. Fine lines between brave and stupid, but that's what you get. Don't look back. Damn you and your bayonets!

You said you'd never leave me out all on my own so what the hell am I doing alone right now? Went to a show downtown where you walked right in and you sat right down across the table. You asked me how I felt. And so you say you need to go but there's not much left in this show, and we all need find a way out. I look around and see we're surrounded by people who don't give a damn about us. Come on, who gives? let's jump this town. You caught me drinking on the sidelines by myself, but isn't that what you came in here to do? I don't really care what the band plays so long as they're playing now, so darlin' what's that to you? And so you say you need to go but there's not much left in this show, and we all need to find a way out. I look around and see we're surrounded by people who don't give a damn about us. Who gives? Come on, let's jump this town.

I Want You

Sun is streaming 'cross the bed where you rest your sleepyhead against my still-naked chest, still gently rising falling. What's that they're doing in the road, what could we do as music flows in over us and you can feel the scenes from last night calling? You start to move there next to me, (She's so heavy) playing in the street. I move to pull you close, but something's got your ear. You push me back go for the door, oh come on! Please, just a little more. Come crawl back in and let me have this moment. Can't you see that I wonder why you sang The Night Before that we could just lie there sleeping with them pounding down the doors. You let them in, let the riot begin, and I want you once more. You open up, this place is filled. The city's here, run for the hills! I wanna join the party too, but not for a little longer. You strike the band and sing along. You sing with the Sgt for a song. I see the guys, they get me high. The music's getting stronger now. I wonder why you sang the night before that we could just lie there sleeping with them pounding down the doors. You let them in, let the riot begin, but I want you once more. Now our building's overrun with all these people in the loft drinking from the chandeliers and people climbing up the walls. Sunlight's streaming, and springtime's in the doors and windows, and friends are calling but I want you.

Gonna Get Her

my baby always does me wrong
she leaves me out of breath, stringing me along
she's overdrawn and I'm gonna pay
steals another heart and lives another day
she’s back, a sharp attack, jumping boxcars, running with the heat she pack
she’s gone but never too far away
another one down it’s a sight to see, on her trail all night in a dark city
she’s gone but never too far away
drive around for a little bit
stick around for the hell of it
but i’m gonna get her
in this daily judgement, i’m a pawn
her chambers empty out, guns forever drawn
that's a final serenade
left here mesmerized by a lovely renegade
and i can run forever
she’s gone but never too far away
